The Blossoming Spring in Japan

Few people know that the spring in Japan begins with the blossoming flowers of prunus mume (the Japanese apricot) at the end of February rather than with blooming sakura. The tradition of admiring the flowers in Japan (festival Hanami) originates in an extreme antiquity. In every garden you can find a prunus mume. It is used for appetizers, marinated and make wine. In addition it is believed that prunus mume brings good luck and protect from evil! A bloom of it is delightful!
